Several days ago, I posted a cute Bear Hugs card. The photo wasn't the greatest- sorry about that. But the stamp set is adorable for sure.
I was able to stamp all day yesterday ( pretty much) so I grabbed this set with the coordinating framelits and cranked out some pretty cute cards.
This is the first card that I made. My boys liked this one, because its a bear that is fishing. My boys both love to fish, so this card got their "stamp" of approval.
A technique that I learned years ago at a Stampin Up Convention, is that when watercoloring animal fur, use delightful dijon (a mustard color) with the aqua painter and color in the entire bear.
Then go back and add darker colors to define and highlight.
I used soft suede followed by chocolate chip. I love using the ink pads and aqua painters on water color paper. Just close your ink pad and press the lid into the pad. Open up the ink pad and there will be a splotch of ink on the lid. Dip the aqua painter in the ink and color in.
Theres nothing quite as pretty as this water color technique.
I like using crystal effects- I have to contol myself or I would use it on everything. Look close and you can see that I highlighted the greeting with a line of crystal effects. This gives it dimension and makes the words pop.
I also used crystal effects on the nose and hat band. A bit of shimmer was added to the fish with the Wink of Stella shimmer pen in clear.
I used the Zig Zag emboss folder to add dimension to the ground. After I embossed the soft suede strip I brayered over it with ink in the same color.
I really enjoyed creating this fun masculine card.
I'm glad my boys liked it and I hope I get your "stamp" of approval on this card too.
I had so much fun with the Bear Hugs stamp set that I couldn't stop there. I was eager to make a cute baby bear card. A little girl baby bear- because I couldn't wait to use the hair bow!
This is a cute note card that I designed on a 4x4 square card.
Here's a close up of the details. A touch of crystal effects was used on the leaves, bow and words. A "white perfert accent" for the center of the flower makes a statement on this card.
Here's one last view from the side.
I'm not finished yet. One last card before I sign off. We have a daddy bear and a baby bear. The only thing we need now is mama bear.
I wanted to use the new bow paper clips. I thought they would make an adorable hair bow for the mama bear. I traced the bow on designer paper and then cut it out and slipped it into the paper clip bow. I had to trim a little bit of paper off after I slipped it into the clip with my paper snips. The Hexagon Hive thinlit die was perfect for this honey pot card.
Of course I had to slap some crystal effects on the dripping honey.
Well, there you have it. My day with lots of Bear Hugs.
Hugs to you, too!
Keep on Stampin' and Come back again soon!
