Dad or Grad- Tutorial: Unique Fold "Shirt Card"

Father's Day and Graduation are just around the corner. So, it was time for me to make more masculine cards.

Today I was able to get some stamping time in. I was able to get a lot of cards designed, and that makes me very happy. I designed a few for my card class, a few swaps and of course a couple of guy cards.

This card uses the Brushstrokes background stamp, night of navy ink and cardstock, gold foil sheets, gold satin ribbon as well as gold emboss powder.

Here's one of the cards: Perfect for the Dad or Grad. And if you are from my neck of the woods, (Butler, PA) its also the Butler High School Golden Tornado colors AND the Pitt Panther colors too!

This is how I made the shirt card: Cut a piece of night of navy cardstock to 5 1/4" x 4". Stamp both sides of the cardstock with the Brushstrokes stamp in night of navy ink.

Next, cut a slit 1" down from the top, stopping at the 3/4" line as seen here. Do this on the other side as well.

Next, fold the collar so that the points touch in the middle.

Next, simply tie a knot in a 6" piece of gold satin ribbon. Do not pull it tight. It should look like an actual tie knot.

Next, cut it at the top and tuck it in, using a glue dot to hold it in place inside the knot.

Next, place dimensionals under each side of the collar and place the tie with a glue dot.

To form the point at the bottom of the tie, fold ribbon in half and snip at an angle as shown.

And.. Voila! Ready for dad or grad. I added the greeting from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set in the New Stampin' Up 2016-2017 Annual Catalog and embossed it in gold emboss powder. Simply change the greeting if you're making a Fathers Day Card.

IMG_9353 And if your guy prefers a bow tie...  I used the Bow Builder Punch with the gold foil sheets and embossed the Thoughtful Banner in gold emboss powder. I love the gold on gold look. I also added rhinestone jewels as buttons.

Such a dapper pair. Take your pick, dad or grad?

This year, I've got both, as my son is graduating from high school next month. Where does the time go?

I love how the shirt can be made with just two simple cuts. Has this tutorial inspired you to make a shirt and tie card for your special guys too? I hope you'll give it a try.

The supplies are listed below, however the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and coordinating Duet Banner punch are not available until June 1st.

Until the next time...

Keep on Stampin' and Come back again soon!
