I'm always in need of masculine cards. I planned to work on designing a few guy cards this week, but I had yet to decide which stamp set to use.
So, when my boys came home from fishing with about 15 fresh fish in the cooler... I made my decision to use the "By the Tide" stamp set. Of course I had to feature the fish from this set.
I'm glad I had the chance to use this set before it retires next week.
I wanted to create a simple but colorful card. Nothing fancy. You know, the kind of card a guy would like.
This card didn't take me long at all. A few ink pads, some sponges and a wink of stella brush was all it took.
Here's what I whipped up in less than 20 minutes:
I stamped the seaweed in delightful dijon, and the fish in early espresso. I then used stampin' sponges to fill in the white space. The colors that I sponged were: so saffron, pool party, wisteria wonder, pear pizazz and old olive is along the bottom. The greeting is from the "Greatest Greetings" stamp set and inked in basic black archival ink.
I added some shine to the fish with the "wink of stella brush" in clear.
Here's a closer look.
I think "sponging" is my favorite stamping technique. Its super quick and easy. I literally colored in this entire card, just by sponging.
I added a strip of corrugated paper to the bottom ( I love this stuff and its retiring as well!) and attached it with the candy dot brads. Yes, those are retiring, too!
I loved creating this card and loved how easily it went together. I also got the seal of approval from my two boys.
So, all in all it was a good stamping day.
I'm glad you stopped by to visit today.
Until the next time...
Keep on Stampin' and Come back again soon!
