Carousel Birthday

Creative Card Fold : Dutch Door Fold- using the Carousel Birthday set

I have a fun card fold to share with you today. I was visiting my friend Linda Bauwin, in Ohio a few weeks ago and I saw this fun and simple fold she had done on one of her class cards. I was surprised at how easy it was to make. Linda always has great card fold ideas and I always love visiting with her to see all of her fun creations.

So, I had create a Dutch Door card fold of my own. I thought the Carousel Birthday stamp set would work perfectly for this card idea.

Plus, I had to create a card for a swap that I host with other demonstrators across the country that have served on the Stampin' Up Advisory Board. These girls are top notch, so I wanted to share something that they could easily use in their own classes and workshops.

The bottom of the card opens like a "dutch door." How clever is that? I used all the coordinating accessories from the Carousel Birthday suite. The Cupcakes and Carousel designer paper is so perfect for this carnival card. I love how the Layering Oval framlits work together. I used both the smooth edge and scallop edge ovals for this card. There are 15 ovals in the set, so there are lots to choose from!

Here's what it looks like on the inside.

I think it came together really well. I love all the fun colors in this suite.

Stampin' Up! Carousel Birthday simplicity

I've got a quick card to show you today. Its from the Carousel Birthday stamp set. I only used one ink pad on this card. Bermuda bay ink and cardstock for a tone on tone look, works perfectly in the background as well as the carousel horse.

IMG_3690

A strip of the Cupcakes and Carousel coordinating designer paper, pulls it all together.

Of course I had to use the Stitched Shapes Framelits- in the square shape this time. Its the perfect size to frame this pretty pony.

IMG_3689

I'm a girl who loves embellishments. So, I used three, yes three different types of embellishments. The white perfect accents, the In Color enamel shapes and the rhinestone jewels. After all, its a carnival, so bring on the bling!

I love the sweet simplicity of this card.

Hope you like it too!

Coloring with Markers- Stampin Up Carousel Birthday

Here's a quick card using the Stampin Up Carousel Birthday stamp set and Stampin Up Markers.

I chose 3 basic colors for this card, mint macaron,(green) pink pirouette (pink) and soft sky (blue) markers. Then I used 2 darker shades of each basic color. This gives the image, depth and shading without having to think about it.

IMG_3422

I added old olive and emerald envy to the mint macaron, (green horse) flirty flamingo and melon mambo to the pink pirouette (pink horse) and tempting turquoise and pacific point to soft sky (blue horse).

IMG_3423

I attached the colorful enamel dots to the tops of the poles to match the colors of the horses.

IMG_3419

I thought the white pom pom trim was a perfect touch for a carousel. I attached the trim with tear tape to ensure that it stayed put.

IMG_3425

I added the clear shimmery Wink of Stella brush over the horses. I tried to get a good photo, to show how it shimmers in real life, but if you look at the blue horse, you can see the shimmer on the front legs.

This would make a special birthday card for a little girl- or even a big girl! It makes a great baby card as well. Have fun with it!

Stampin Up Carousel Birthday- Watercolor -Emboss resist technique

As promised, here is the Carousel Birthday card that I posted on my Facebook and Instagram pages earlier this week.

I know it was a little teaser, as it was only a photo of a small section of the card.

The Carousel Birthday stamp set, is new in the Occasions Catalog. Some of the dies from the Up and Away thinlit set coordinate with this stamp set.

Here it is, all pretty in pink!

Basically what I did with this card is a watercolor wash for the background. Using watercolor paper, an aquapainter and re-inkers, I dipped the aquapainter in a few drops of pink pirouette, then flirty flamingo and finally, melon mambo. I swished it across the water color paper using an ample amount of water from my aqua painter. Each color was painted on separately starting with the lightest color, working to the darkest.

IMG_3338

Once it dried.. ( I heated with my Stampin Up heat tool, to speed up the drying time) I embossed the ferris wheel with white embossing powder. This can actually be done before or after the watercoloring. I did emboss the horse first and then colored it in with the aqua painters and re-inkers.

IMG_3340

I used the Cupcakes and Carousels Embellishment kit to finish the card. The gorgeous ombre ribbon, iridescent sequins and darling tassel are some of the items in this kit. Oh my goodness, I am totally loving this kit!

I used smoky slate ink for the pole and greeting. The greeting actually comes from the Suite Sentiments stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.

I love pink, so this card was such and enjoyable and relaxing card for me to create.

I'm thinking this would look awesome in shades of blue or purple as well. Oh the possibilities!
