Unique Card Folds: Dutch Door Fold with Cool Treats stamp set

Today I want to share with you a card fold called "Dutch Door Fold." I was in my friend Linda Bauwins stamp studio a few weeks ago and noticed this cool fold. She always has such fun and creative folds to share.

I used the Cool Treats Bundle to make this special card. Its really quite easy, and really cute.

Here's the closed card. It looks pretty much like a basic card except for the split down the middle.

When I stamped the ice cream on both cones, I used the "stamp off "method. So, I used the flirty flamingo for one of the cones, but I inked the stamp, then stamped off once onto my scratch paper before I stamped the image. Next, I inked up the detail of the cone in the same color, and stamped it directly onto the ice cream. This gives it a perfect two tone effect using the same color. I did the same with the peek a boo peach ice cream.

Here's another look at the Dutch Door fold:

I'm going to give you the measurements of the cardstock, so that you can create your own Dutch Door fold.

1 piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 -Watermelon Wonder cardstock

1 piece of 2 1/4 x 11 -Watermelon Wonder cardstock- scored at 5 1/2

1 piece of 1 3/4 x 5 1/4 -Tasty Treats Designer Paper

1 piece of 2 x 5 1/4 - Tasty Treats Designer Paper

1 piece of 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 - Pool Party cardstock

1 piece of 2 x 2 whisper white cardstock (this is the piece that the peek a boo peach sprinkles are stamped on)

This is what it looks like when it is open:

Creative Card Fold using the Cool Treats stamp set

Here's a "cool" creative card fold using the new stamp set, "Cool Treats." There are so many fun things to do with this set and its coordinating "Frozen Treats" framelits.

This card fold is called, Peek A Boo Gate Fold. It seems everyone is using this fold lately. So, I thought I would share this sugary sweet card with you using this card fold technique.

Here's the card...

IMG_3095

As you can see, there is a peek a boo gap in the middle of the card, to stamp the greeting.

The measurements of this card are:

Pool Party cardstock: 7 3/4" x 5 1/2"

Whisper White cardstock: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside piece)

and (2) strips of whisper white cut at: 1 1/2" x 5 1/4"

Tasty Treats designer paper: (2) pieces cut at: 1 1/4" x 5"

SCORING: laying it long edge in paper cutter- score at 1 3/4" and 6"

When you fold it up, you will have a peek a boo gap in the middle of the card.

Here's the inside view with darling cherries and colorful sprinkles.

IMG_3080

How cute is this tiny spoon die cut from silver foil paper?

Can you see how sweet this designer paper is? It has a clear gloss shine over the ice cream images. So, I added some shine to the cherry on the top of the sundae by squeezing a little fine tip glue pen over the cherry. It dries quickly and its not even sticky!

IMG_3098

I layered my sundae on a stitched circle framelit, from the Stitched Shapes framelit package. Did you know that Stampin Up sells about 20,000 framelits from any one framelit set during the course of a year, but has sold 20,000 of the Stitched Shape Framelits in its first two weeks on the market! To say this is an awesome framelit set is an understatement.

Simple Z Fold Birthday Card

Todays card is a very simple Z fold card that we did at Card Class last week. It was made with one of my favorite's from the Occasions Catalog 2017- "Cool Treats" stamp set and coordinating "Frozen Treats" framelits dies.

The "Tasty Treats" designer paper with those tiny little popcicles looks so cute with this "cool" ice cream card.

IMG_3091

To make the simple "Z" fold: Start with a 11" x 4 1/4" piece of pool party cardstock, simply fold it in half as you would to make a regular card. Next, fold the front flap of the card, up towards the top fold of the card. Thats it. You will then attach the whisper white 4" x 5 1/4" piece on the inside of the card.

IMG_3093

When attaching the ice cream images to the front flap, make sure to only apply adhesive to the top of the square.

IMG_3078

Here's a close up of the cute cones and popcicles that were die cut with the "Frozen Treats" framelits. I love that this is a two two-step set. It gives the cones more depth and a realistic look. I used pool party, peek a boo peach and flirty flamingo inks, but I "stamped off" the ink onto my grid paper and then stamped the cone and the popcicles. I then added the detail in full strength of those same inks.

A shiny enamel circle for the dot on the chocolate chip colored  birthday greeting and its ready to give!

I hope you enjoyed todays quick tutorial. You'll be able to whip up a simple "z" fold in no time.

Might as well share this Card idea too!

Good Morning stampers!

How exciting a day it was yesterday. The New Occasions Catalog and Sale A Bration went live and then- pow! The SU website was down! Well, it did get fixed in the early afternoon and all is well and good in the stamping world again.

As I was deciding what to plan for my next card class, I was shuffling through some cards that I made last week. I decided since I just shared a shaker card with the Cool Treats sets, that I might as well throw this one in there as well, while the shaker making is still fresh in your mind.

IMG_2977

This shaker card is a lot like the last one that I posted, but I did mix up the colors and add more of the new Tasty Treats designer paper and washi tape.

I also cut one of the In Color Doilies into 4 pieces and used one of the pieces to peek out from behind the ice cream cone.

IMG_2976

If you missed my last shaker card, scroll down a couple of posts or click on Shaker Cards on the "Catagories" project list on my sidebar for instructions.

I'm kind of diggin' these yummy ice creamy colors... reminds me of spring and warm sunny days. Both of which I would love to be experiencing right now, instead of these frigid winter nights in western PA.

Go ahead an click on the New Occasions and Sale a bration catalogs on my blog and check out all the fabulous new products. If you don't have a hard copy and would like one, just drop me an email and I'll get one out to you.

Thanks for visiting!

Sharing a New Catalog Swap Card

Ok, so I've been playing with this new "Cool Treats" stamp set and it is so fun! I have so many great cards and ideas worked up for this set.

I used this set for one of the swaps that I host. There are 40 demonstrators in this swap from all over the U.S and Canada.

We each make 40 identical cards, they send their cards to me and I swaps them out, so that we all get 40 different card ideas.

Its pretty awesome to see all of the great creations from these talented demonstrators. I'm sharing my card with you today.

IMG_2971

I made this "Cool Treats" card into a shaker card. I also used the new Stitched Shape Framelit dies in the oval shape. I love the detail of the stitching on the framlits.

IMG_2973

I used the 3/4" circle punch to add the shaker to the cone. The sequins and beads are the new "Sprinkles Embellishments" from the new Occasions Catalog. The designer paper, "Tasty Treats" is also from the same Cool Treats suite.

Here's a quick look at how I assembled the shaker: First I punched the hole with the 3/4" circle punch, next I placed a small square piece of our SU window sheet over the back of the hole, I then adhered the SU Foam Adhesive Strips around the hole. Lastly, I added the Sprinkles Embellishments and covered it with a small square of pool party cardstock.

IMG_2970

Here they are, all packed up in SU clear envelopes ready to be shipped off.

IMG_2974

I'm excited for the other 40 demonstrators to get their fun packages. Its always a happy mail day when 40 swaps show up in the mailbox!

Just a quick reminder: The Occasions Catalog and Sale A Bration brochure go live on January 4th! The catalogs will both be added to the sidebar on my blog on the 4th, so come back to check them out!

Until then..

New Years Sneak Peek & Something Super Cool from the Occasions Catalog

Here's a fun share from the New Occasions Catalog.

Its from one of my most favorite stamp sets in the catalog, called "Cool Treats."

IMG_2978

This is a two step stamp set, so there are images to layer, like the hot fudge pictured on the cone. Not only is it a two step stamp set, it also has a coordinating framelit die set, called "Frozen Treats." It is so awesome, you will love it!

Notice the backdrop? Its a sheet of the matching designer paper, called "Tasty Treats" - this piece looks like a waffle cone pattern, but there are also 11 other designs and some have shiny clear epoxy on them.

There is also one page in the New Occasions Catalog that happens to be my very favorite... Its actually the back cover.

I was excited to see myself with my BFF Cindy sharing a smile and a hug on the back cover of the New Occasions Catalog 2017. How super cool is that?

My parents and kids think I'm famous now. lol.

But, seriously, I am ever so grateful to that I joined Stampin' Up! many years ago and met so many people who have become like family to me. Its been an amazing 18 years!

IMG_2216

I have lots more to share, as I've had a day to play already. So come back in 2017 to see more. And be sure to check out my Bff and I on the back of your catalog!

To all of you from me: Have a Happy Blessed New Year!
