Sharing a Card and a Technique Video + Last Chance for Retired Products

I was given a beautiful card at the On Stage event in April. It was from a demonstrator who had watched my video on the Aqua Wash technique. Megan Herst had made her swap cards for the event using the aqua wash technique from my video and wanted to share her card with me. I will post the video below for those of you who may have missed it.

I was so pleasantly surprised by her thoughtfulness and her beautiful card. Here's is Megan's awesome card using the aqua wash technique.

Megan also used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating dies as I did in my video. I love how Megan added a splash of gold embossing to match her gold foil dragonflies.

Thanks again to Megan for thinking of me and presenting me with this fabulous, glimmery card.

Awesome Swaps from our Team Meeting

I want to share a few of the swaps that members of my team made for our #1 Stampers Meeting Swap. The theme for this swap was unique folds. The girls came up with some great designs, as you will see.

The photo quality isnt the best. I took the pictures in a hurry, before they were swapped out. But they are still pretty awesome.

Here's the first one, made by Sue Brennan

Dragonfly Dreams- from a friend. And Lots of Swaps

I received this beautful Dragonfly Dreams cards from my friend, Elaine Swidzinski. I thought it was so pretty, that I wanted to give Elaine a "shout out." She is such a talented stamper and makes the most beautiful creations, that I wanted to share it with all of you.

IMG_3763

Elaine used the Dragonfly stamp set and coordinating dies, to create this copper foil dragonfly. I love how she embossed the Falling in Love designer paper with the Softly Falling emboss folder. It looks so elegant.

Rhinestone jewels eyes on the dragonfly give it that sparkly touch.

Thanks Elaine, for making such an exceptional card for me. I love it!

And just for fun, I wanted to add a bunch of swaps that I received from a special swap that I host with fellow members of the Stampin' Up! Advisory Board Alumni. These ladies always "wow" me with their talent!

Stamping Technique- Spotlight Background Masking Technique

Last night at class we did an easy and fun masking technique called Spotlight Background technique. At least thats what I call it.

Its super easy, but really pretty and very cool.

Here's the card that we made using the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating framelits bundle.

IMG_3692

The colors are mint macaron, pool party and basic gray archival inks, with mint macaron, basic gray and silver foil cardstocks and paper. I also used the Timeless Textures stamp set to stamp the spotlighted background.

IMG_3693

I love how the large dragonfly shines with the silver foil sheets. I only used one dimensional to attach this dragonfly, so that the wings were free floating.

I also made another card using this technique in a different color. I have a video posted below, with step by step instructions for this card and technique.

Same technique and stamp sets, different colors:

Stampin Up - Dragonfly Dreams Elegance

I resisted buying this stamp set until I saw all the amazing projects that were created with it. Now,
Dragonfly Dreams is one of my favorites from the Stampin' Up! Catalog.

I created an elegant card with both the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating Detailed Dragonfly thinlets.

My favorite "elegant" color combination is gold and elegant eggplant. So, for this card, I used both the elegant eggplant and gold foil sheets as well as a bit of wisteria wonder cardstock.

IMG_3609

I stamped the background of the elegant eggplant cardstock with the dragonfly stamp in elegant eggplant ink. It gives the card a subtle tone on tone look.

I also used the ever popular Stitched Shapes framelits for the ovals. I did a little "sponging" around the small oval with a sponge dauber dipped in elegant eggplant ink.

IMG_3610

And don't forget about sparkle, when it comes to making an elegant card... The gold glimmer paper really makes this dragonfly pop off of the card. I used the wisteria wonder cardstock behind the detail of the dragonfly. A little more shimmer and shine was added with the gold satin ribbon and metallic enamel shapes in gold as well.

IMG_3611

I used the fine tip glue pen to attach the detailed dragonfly to the wisteria wonder dragonfly under it. Plus, I popped it up with a few dimensionals to give it some dimension.

IMG_3613

I think this card would absolutely brighten someones day- just to say "hello."

I hope you give this card a try and if you don't have the Dragonfly Dreams bundle, you need to get one for yourself. You'll be glad you did!
