Everyday Occasions

Stamping Technique - Bringing it back

Today I had some fun bringing back a stamping technique that I haven't done in ages. Its a color block masking technique.

I just love it! It uses one of my favorite accessories- sponges! So, for this card, I used the "Every Occasion" stamp set. Bold stamps work really well with this awesome stamping technique. I have a quick tutorial to share as well.

Here's the finished fall themed card:

I started by using post it notes to mask off a section on the whisper white cardstock. I then stamped a solid image within that block and used the same color ink to sponge inside the block before I removed the post it note.

I continued to mask off blocks or shapes on the whisper white cardstock, while also making sure to cover what I had just stamped so not to overlap the images or inks.

Feel free to use any shapes and sizes of masking areas. Each card will be unique and have its own special pattern.

Also be sure to use a different color for each block to create contrast.

Here's the masking all removed.

Normally I don't outline the blocks, but today I decided to use the Project Life Journaling Pen to outline each shape. I used a ruler and did a dotted line around all the shapes. We call this technique, faux stitching.

I love how all the warm fall colors mesh together and form sort of a quilt-like pattern.

I used the "Endless Birthday Wishes" stamp set for the greeting, "hello"

One of my all time favorite color blocking techniques, for sure.

I hope you give this cool stamping technique a try. The "Every Occasion" stamp set is perfect for this stamping technique. It has a variety of solid images for every occasion and season.

I appreciate the time you spent viewing my blog today. I hope it inspires you to create an amazing fall card as well.

Another Fall Card from Kim's Card Class

I wanted to share another card that we made at Card Class last week. Its a simple but charming card made with the "Everyday Occasions" stamp set. I used some great fall colors along with more gold foil paper. It really turned out cute.

We punched out all the fall images with a 1" circle punch and framed each circle with a 1 1/4" circle of early espresso cardstock.

I love embossing on the foil sheets. The gold looks like a real sheet of metal when embossed. I did some dual embossing.. using the "Petal Burst" emboss folder on both the gold foil sheet and the soft suede cardstock. Doesn't it look beautiful?

The ink colors are pumpkin pie, always artichoke, cherry cobbler and rich razzleberry with the greeting stamped in early espresso ink.

I think the ladies really enjoyed making this fun card.

Here's a close up of all the pretty colors layered on a crumb cake background. I love creating with all the warm fall colors.

This would be a super easy layout for any of the images in the "Everyday Occasions" stamp set. You should give it a try!

I'm going to try to blog all week from here in Pensacola, Florida. I flew down this morning to help with my god son's wedding.

We baked cookies most of the day today. If you are from the Pittsburgh, PA area, you know we are famous for our "cookie tables" at all our weddings.

Tomorrow, I'm hitting the beach. Maybe I will post a few photos of the scenery here and even some wedding photos later in the week.

I definitely will post the guest bags- I stamped some pretty cards for the bags that I'll be posting later.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Until the next time...
