Occasions Catalog 2017

Craft Night- Button Trees and Sequin Ornaments

My friends and I got together to have a craft night to make Christmas trees using some retired Stampin Up buttons as well as many other buttons that we had collected.

I got this idea from Patty Bennett last year and we have been planning on making these trees for a year now!

We bought the styrofoam trees from a craft store. We really had a blast making these. They are very easy, but take about 2-3 hours to attach all the buttons, depending on how big your tree is and how big your buttons are.

IMG_2224

We used pins with the white pearl on the top. They come in a short and a long length. We used the longer ones at the bottom of the tree and the shorter ones at the top. We started at the bottom and worked our way up.

Here's BJ and Lori posing with their trees. Lori is almost there...

IMG_E2226

We all decided to make our first tree in Christmas colors of red and green.

IMG_2229

Tracy posing with her perfect button tree- she was the first one to finish.

IMG_E2228

We used about 350 buttons and pins. That was for the largest tree. It was about 12" high.

IMG_2297

I also made a smaller tree, which is about 6" high. Some of the styrofoam trees were green and some were white. I don't think it really mattered once the buttons were on.

IMG_2296

For the stars, I used the retired medium star punch from Stampin Up and the Stampin Up gold and silver glimmer paper. I punched 2 stars and placed a toothpick in between them and attached it with Stampin Up tear and tape. I tied a little lemon lime twist ombre ribbon on the top of this tree.

IMG_2298

I love how they turned out.

IMG_2313

Once I finished the tree, I had an idea... I bought some styrofoam balls and did some Christmas ornaments.

I had a bunch of retired Stampin Up bold brights buttons, so I thought it would be fun to make a super colorful Christmas bulb.

IMG_2299

To attach the Stampin Up red tinsel trim, I simply tied a loop in a knot at the top and pinned it to the styrofoam bulb with the same pearl top pins and then made a bow with red ribbon and pinned it down as well.

IMG_2300

If there was too much white styrofoam showing, and I didn't have a small enough button to fill it, I just placed a pearl top pin there to fill the space.

IMG_2312

I used 100-150 buttons/pins on this ornament.

So, then I had another idea. I have tons of Stampin Up Sequins! I got out my Stampin Up Metallic Sequin Assortment and went to town on another Christmas bulb. This time I used a tiny styrofoam bulb as I knew it would take me a while to pin all the tiny sequins on.

I used these pins for the sequin ornament. I probably used about 700 sequins/pins for this 2" ornament.

IMG_2248

I did not use the black or copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment. I did use the Stampin Up gold ribbon and gold satin trimmed ribbon for the bow and the loop.

IMG_2306

I love how shiny and sparkly they are! The ornament below is made with retired Stampin Up sequins and ribbon from the 2017 Occasions catalog.

Another Eclipse Technique Valentine Card

I'm in the midst of baking, wrapping, stamping, crafting and cleaning for Christmas, so why not throw in a Valentine card while I'm at it!

I am totally in LOVE with the Eclipse Technique and I have been making a few cards for Valentines day and for a couple of my friends using this unique technique.

You will definitely want to try this and you will definitely need the Large Letters Framlit dies to pull it off.

I also used the Bloomin' Love stamp set for this lovely card.

IMG_1968

The whisper white cardstock was stamped with the heart in real red and the flowers in rose red ink. Then I placed the Large Letters Framlit dies over top of the images and cut the word LOVE out with the Big Shot.

I then attached the whisper white cardstock onto the card, and attached the letters in the cut out holes with mini dimensionals.

It helps to attach basic black cardstock behind the letters. It gives in more contrast and depth.

IMG_1969

I added a few rhinestones for sparkle. This could also be used for a wedding, anniversary, engagement or bridal shower as well.

I've got another really cute eclipse card to share, but I want to make sure that my friend received it before I post.

Stop back again soon- I have more crafty crafts that I will be posting this week.

Until the next time...

Keep on Stampin and Come back again soon!

My Talented Team and their Fabulous Swaps and 3-D Creations

I want to share my teams swaps from our Christmas Party with you. The theme was gift packaging. Some of the girls made boxes and others did gift card holders. They were all very cute!

This adorable little gift box was made by Sue Brennan. She used the "Bella and Friends" stamp set to decorate the front of the box.

This gift card holder was made by Tauni Caylor- its got a little surprise inside... wait for it...

This is the coolest gift card holder... Its a "zipper card" made by Lori Wiest. Pull the tab and it unzips the card to reveal a gift card inside. I don't have instructions, but I'm sure it can be "googled."

Sharing a Card and a Technique Video + Last Chance for Retired Products

I was given a beautiful card at the On Stage event in April. It was from a demonstrator who had watched my video on the Aqua Wash technique. Megan Herst had made her swap cards for the event using the aqua wash technique from my video and wanted to share her card with me. I will post the video below for those of you who may have missed it.

I was so pleasantly surprised by her thoughtfulness and her beautiful card. Here's is Megan's awesome card using the aqua wash technique.

  IMG_4230

Megan also used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and coordinating dies as I did in my video. I love how Megan added a splash of gold embossing to match her gold foil dragonflies.

For those of you who may have missed my video on the aqua wash technique, I will post it below. Scroll down past the product list and click to view.

Thanks again to Megan for thinking of me and presenting me with this fabulous, glimmery card.

Card Class - Featuring Eastern Palace Suite

I actually remembered to take "people" pictures at class this time. Well, truth be told, Heather and Sharon reminded me or I would have missed the opportunity again.

Most everyone had finished and left, but there were a few ladies still stamping, chatting and looking over the long, 10 page retired list, trying to pick out the last "must haves" of the current catalog.

Sharon and Heather trying to decide what they cannot live without, before its gone forever.

IMG_4686

We made this beautiful card with the stamps and framelits from the Eastern Palace Suite. This is available during the month of May only, as a Special Bundle purchase. This card uses both the Eastern Beauty stamp set and Eastern Medallion framelits. Check out the new Lemon Lime Twist "In Color." Isn't it gorgeous?
