Stampin Up! "A Nice Cuppa"- Mary Engelbreit inspired
January 24, 2016
To tell you the truth, the first time I saw this set, I thought of the cute little Mary Engelbreit teacups and all the bright and glorious colors of her designs.
I wanted to convey the happy, vibrant colors of the popular and ever so pretty, teacups on this hand stamped card. She uses a lot of black, red, blue and yellow in her designs. So I started with that.
I knew I was going to have to emboss to get that wow, pop of color. So I embossed the teacups in white emboss powder using the Stampin Up "Dots for Days" background stamp. I cut out the teacups with the coordinating "Cups and Kettle" framelits and then embossed.
I punched out a vellum circle with the 1 3/8" circle punch and embossed the greeting in black emboss powder. I like using the vellum on top of an image, because it doesn't cover it up- the image still pops through so it can be seen. I used a bold brights turquoise button and a real red candy dot with crystal effects on it to accent the black satin ribbon. Lastly, I used the itty bitty accents punch (heart) and added the coordinating itty bitty accents epoxy stickers (hearts) over them.
I think it came together quite nicely. It kind of does have a little of that Mary Engelbreit whimsy, don't you think?
Thanks for stopping by today.
