Stampin' Up! Swirly Bird Stamp Set ~ Sailing Away

I've stamped several cards with this "Swirly Bird" stamp set and you've seen most of them featured on my blog in the last couple of months. I've designed everything from flowers, to birdies, to kites and swirls. But, today I wanted to make a sailboat card.

I haven't used the stamps to design a sailboat yet, and I was excited to have a chance to work on that today.

This set doesn't look like much in the photo featured in the Stampin' Up! catalog, but I promise you, once you get this set in your hands, you won't want to put it down.

I also used the coordinating "Swirly Scribbles" thinlits to add some sunshine to this soothing card.

Here's what I ended up with:

I embossed the pool party cardstock with the new "Seaside" emboss folder, which was perfect for the ocean waves in the background. I also used the "Thoughtful Banners" stamp set with the coordinating "Duet Banners" punch. I use that set a LOT too.

First I dipped my stampin' sponge in pool party ink and sponged over the embossed waves. I used an aqua painter dipped in the bermuda bay ink refill- then splattered it onto the background. The die cut waves and swirly sun are from the Swirly Scribbles thinlit dies. Did you notice that I sponged over the sun as well? I used pumpkin pie ink over the so saffron cardstock on the sun.

The ink colors on the sailboat are bermuda bay and pool party, with a pumpkin pie flag. I popped the sunshine up with glue dots that I rolled up with my fingers to make them fit under the thin lines of the swirls.

A little bit of linen thread under the sailboat give it a nautical touch.

I'm kind of loving these colors together. To me it feels very soothing and "carefree."

I hope you like it! I appreciate you taking time to visit my blog today. Hope you stop back soon.

Fresh Fruit Fun Mail

I got another fun surprise in my mailbox today. I thought I'd share the sweet card that Connie Hiesey sent me.

Its made with the "Fresh Fruit" stamp set from the 2016-2017 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

Doesn't it look yummy? I love the vibrant colors of the "Fruit Stand" designer paper. It coordinates so well with the "Fresh Fruit" Stamp set. One of my favorites! This card definitely made me smile and brightened my day.

Thanks so much for the "sweet" card, Connie. I love getting fun mail, especially when its hand- stamped!

Thanks for taking time to visit my blog today.

Stampin Up - Jar of Love, Shaker Card

Today, I am sharing a sweet "Jar of Love" shaker card. This stamp set has so many possibilities. With 3 jar sizes and tons of accesories, like fish, hearts, flowers, lightening bugs, and candy, this jar can be anything you want it to be!

I made a "bless your heart'" shaker card with this sweet "Jar of Love" set. I used the little hearts as the shakers inside the jar and the verse- "bless your heart." I just love that combination. The supplies that I used will be listed below. But, I'm happy to say, that I will list a step by step tutorial here for you.

Isn't this the sweetest card, ever?

Here's a close up of the shaker inside. I used window sheets to enclose the punched hearts and it also has that glassy look as a real jar would have.

I used the new Classic Label punch for the greeting and attached it with dimensionals.

So, first of all, I stamped the large jar in basic black archival ink and cut out the inside with the coordinating "Everyday Jar Framelits" and attached a window sheet behind the jar with snail adhesive.

Next, I punched out some hearts with the "Confetti Hearts Border Punch" and placed them in the jar. I used the new "Foam Adhesive Strips" and formed it around the jar. I used one strip and cut off the excess foam and attached it up top.

Then I stamped a bunch of the hearts in pink pirouette and flirty flamingo inks on a piece of whisper white. This piece will fit behind the jar, over the foam strips.

Here it is, placed over top the foam strips ( heart side down) .. As you can see, I'm not too fussy about the look of back of my cards- no one sees them anyway, right? I applied snail adhesive and then attached this to the front of the card.

Here's how it looks! I layered onto basic black cardstock, Pop Of Pink designer paper, pink pirouette, flirty flamingo and whisper white cardstock. I attached the flirty flamingo and melon mambo ribbons with a glue dot.

So, so sweet. Bless your heart- I just love that verse and I think this card conveys that perfectly.

A few flirty flamingo "Enamel Shape" hearts give it the finishing touch.

I hope you like the card and the tutorial. Give it a try - shaker cards are so cool!

Thanks for stopping by today, I appreciate it!

Stampin' Up! Baby Bear Ideas

Oh how we are all loving this adorable stuffed teddy bear. I have a couple more cards to share with you today.

I made a girl and a boy bear. I mean, I could make tons of these in every color! As you may know, this is a 3 step stamp set. Which means that we can stamp the images in layers over top of each other to create shading, depth and dimension. I really love the 2 and 3 step stamps. They create so many possibilities and the images look so realistic.

The bear was stamped in 3 layers. The first stamp ( all the stamps are numbered by the way) is stamped in delightful dijon ink,  crumb cake ink and lastly, chocolate chip ink.

I used calypso coral ink and cardstock as well as a calypso coral enamel heart shape on the bears chest.

So, after I stamped this, I learned that I should line up the bears arm pits and butt- to get the layers perfect, when I stamp it. I'll try that next time. The Happy Heart emboss folder and the new "Very Vanilla 1/2" lace trim give this card the perfect soft and pretty touch.

Now, for the boy bear... His layers are stamped in so saffron, delightful dijon and chocolate chip ink. I also used wisteria wonder and elegant eggplant ink for his bow tie.

I used some dimensionals under the so saffron cardstock and the bow to give it some lift. Again, I added an enamel heart shape in so saffron to the bottom of the thank you card.

Don't they make a cute couple?

I hope I've inspired you to give 3 step stamping a try!

Thanks for stopping by.

Until the next time...

Stampin' Up! Wherever You Go

When I saw this stamp set in the new catalog, I instantly knew I had to have it. I love how "artsy" it is. It also reminded me of our trip to San Franciso- one of my favorite places in the USA. Plus, it reminds me of home. I live near Pittsburgh, PA and we are the "City of Bridges"- 446 to be exact. Pittsburgh, PA is officially the city with the most bridges in the WORLD! Three more than the former leader, Venice, Italy. So, that's a lot of reasons to love this set.

I have used this quite a bit actually. I used it for 2 swaps and it was also a card we made at Kim's Card Class a couple of months ago. I've also sent a couple of these to some friends to let them know I was thinking of them.

This one, I pretty much copied directly from the Stampin' Up! Catalog, with just a  few minor changes. I used an aqua painter dipped in basic black archival re-inker and splattered it onto the card.

I used the new Classic Label Punch to punch out the greeting and used paper snips to cut a "tail" on one end.

For this one, I moved the sun and used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to stamp the "splatter" on the background. I changed up the verse and used a Metallic Enamel Shape (heart) in gold for the bottom corner of the card. The above card, I used the Metallic Enamel Shapes (circle) in silver on the compass.

I stamped the greeting in garden green ink onto the card, and stamped it again on a separate piece of whisper white cardstock and punched it out with the 1 3/8" circle punch. I then used a dimensional and popped it over top the image that I stamped on the card.

This last card, I changed up some of the cardstock and ink colors again. I also used the aqua painter and re-inker again for the splatter. And added some washi tape under the Classic Label Punch greeting.

I used the same stamp and punch technique with the compass on this card.

Did you notice how I moved the sun each time? I think it looks great anywhere on the card!

I've got a few more ideas for this set- especially some new layouts. Stop again soon to check them out.
