Craft Night- Button Trees and Sequin Ornaments

My friends and I got together to have a craft night to make Christmas trees using some retired Stampin Up buttons as well as many other buttons that we had collected.
I got this idea from Patty Bennett last year and we have been planning on making these trees for a year now!
We bought the styrofoam trees from a craft store. We really had a blast making these. They are very easy, but take about 2-3 hours to attach all the buttons, depending on how big your tree is and how big your buttons are.
We used pins with the white pearl on the top. They come in a short and a long length. We used the longer ones at the bottom of the tree and the shorter ones at the top. We started at the bottom and worked our way up.

We all decided to make our first tree in Christmas colors of red and green.

We used about 350 buttons and pins. That was for the largest tree. It was about 12" high.
I also made a smaller tree, which is about 6" high. Some of the styrofoam trees were green and some were white. I don't think it really mattered once the buttons were on.
For the stars, I used the retired medium star punch from Stampin Up and the Stampin Up gold and silver glimmer paper. I punched 2 stars and placed a toothpick in between them and attached it with Stampin Up tear and tape. I tied a little lemon lime twist ombre ribbon on the top of this tree.
I love how they turned out.
Once I finished the tree, I had an idea... I bought some styrofoam balls and did some Christmas ornaments.
I had a bunch of retired Stampin Up bold brights buttons, so I thought it would be fun to make a super colorful Christmas bulb.
To attach the Stampin Up red tinsel trim, I simply tied a loop in a knot at the top and pinned it to the styrofoam bulb with the same pearl top pins and then made a bow with red ribbon and pinned it down as well.
If there was too much white styrofoam showing, and I didn't have a small enough button to fill it, I just placed a pearl top pin there to fill the space.
I used 100-150 buttons/pins on this ornament.
So, then I had another idea. I have tons of Stampin Up Sequins! I got out my Stampin Up Metallic Sequin Assortment and went to town on another Christmas bulb. This time I used a tiny styrofoam bulb as I knew it would take me a while to pin all the tiny sequins on.
I used these pins for the sequin ornament. I probably used about 700 sequins/pins for this 2" ornament.
I did not use the black or copper sequins from the Metallic Sequin Assortment. I did use the Stampin Up gold ribbon and gold satin trimmed ribbon for the bow and the loop.
I love how shiny and sparkly they are! The ornament below is made with retired Stampin Up sequins and ribbon from the 2017 Occasions catalog.
They look gorgeous on my tree.
